ADOPT A BLOCK

Where Did It Start?

Adopt A Block started 13 years ago as an outreach ministry to provide food assistance to the Adams Lane neighborhood of Lewiston. We have evolved into a mobile food bank that delivers food monthly to about 50 families (60 to 180 individuals). Roughly 75% are children and the remainder are parents and seniors. Our ministry is staffed by volunteers with a love for children and others in need.

Our volunteers are amazing, and we need more of them!

While Adopt A Block was originally for just one neighborhood, we now serve people who come from other areas, too. We also serve those who attend our church and are facing difficult times. Our volunteers put together and deliver food for others outside of Adams Lane as well.

Monthly Delivery Schedule

Our delivery is once a month on the 3rd Sunday. If the 3rd Sunday is on a holiday or a special day (such as Father's Day), we move the delivery day to the 4th Sunday. Volunteers meet at Adams Lane after church at 12:45 pm to set up the food. We pray over the food and the people we will serve, and then knock on doors to invite people. Families can select from the food we have set up on tables in totes.
